WINDCRAFT BACK - Modal music workshop with Harris Lambrakis

Windcraft Loud is completing ten years of creativity, collaborations, musical encounters and new paths, and is celebrating this with Windcraft Back, a series of events that looks back to bring collaborations born out of the organisation’s journey and that of the Windcraft Music Fest back into the spotlight.

In this first workshop, Harris Lambrakis will offer a brief introduction to the modal music of the Eastern Mediterranean and the world of maqam. Starting from selected pieces from the modal music repertoire, we will explore different maqams through practice and gain an understanding of the theoretical framework underlying many modal musical traditions.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in exploring the melodic richness of these traditions, and welcomes participants of all instruments and levels.
