About the event
The exhibition "Sounds of Memory" and the space "Armarouthkia", two actions that were set up as part of Windcraft Music Fest 10 at the Stavrinos’ Inn, in Katydata Soleas, will reopen for one day for visitors on Sunday 1 September from 11.00-19.00. At 19.00 at the same place, in the inner courtyard of the Inn, the music group Maly, consisting of Vassilis Philippou (voice, percussion, ney, compositions) and Odysseas Toumazou (guitar, compositions) will give a concert. An opportunity for another excursion to the small village of Katydata, in the beautiful valley of Solea, which every year bustles with life on the days when the Windcraft music festival is held!
SOUNDS OF MEMORY
In Stavrinos’ Inn we have collected objects that have stories behind them, which they are unable to tell· clay, wood, metal, stone, are soulless after all. And yet their stories can be heard, through those who lived with these objects, who used them. We went against oblivion, to “inspirit” these objects, through the voice of the villagers of Katydata, men and women, in whose hands the clay, the wood, the metal and the stone turned into life. Enter the chamber of the inn, stand at the window between the manger and the fireplace and listen to the soundscape; let it take you on a journey through memory, and explore the stories of the objects that surround you.

ARMAROUTHKIA
Inside a mud-brick room of the Chani (the Inn), where breeze enters from traditional skylights, a calm corner awaits you, where, among its historical furniture, Armarouthkia (Cabinets) stand out! On their shelves, you will find works by Cypriot writers – poetry, prose, scientific and children's books – which you can flip through and read. After the event, the books collection will continue its journey, finding its place at the lending library of Evrychous’s Youth Multicentre operated by the Youth Board of Cyprus. We warmly thank all the writers who generously donated their works!
CONCERT BY THE MUSIC GROUP MALY
Inspired by the sounds of Cyprus found in speech and music, 'Maly' will present a concert with original compositions and arrangements of traditional pieces that have as their theme the relationship between the past and the present, combined with the Cypriot landscape. The music of Vassilis Philippou and Odysseas Toumazou is deeply influenced by their love for Cypriot culture and they invite the listeners to experience tradition as a living and evolving way of expression.
