Yaala Ballin's “Symphony, Song, Swing” - Limassol

Windcraft Loud proudly supports three performances in Cyprus by acclaimed Jazz-Classical singer Yaala Ballin (IL/U.S.) 

Joining her in Cyprus will be honoured Armenian pianist Vahagn Hayrapetyan and accomplished double-bassist Ari Roland (U.S.). 

The events are organised by Cloud10 Music Agency.

Yaala Ballin's performances give tribute to the great Jazz singers of the 1940s & 50s such as Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRae, with songs by Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter. Her performances also include special treatments to songs by Jazz composers such as Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Fittingly, the concerts also coincide with Billie Holiday’s birthday (April 7, 1915).

The 3 concerts will include one “Symphony, Song, Swing” performance as a special bi-communal 13-piece orchestra (Nicosia), elegantly combining Jazz & Classical music, as well as two swinging Quintet concerts (Pafos and Limassol).

Growing up in a musical house, Classical & Jazz music were always around and so for Israeli-born, U.S.-based Yaala, bringing her passion for The Great American Songbook into a Symphonic setting felt natural. The inspiration for “Symphony, Song, Swing!” came from the great 1958 Billie Holiday album “Lady In Satin”, which she fell in love with at the young age of 15.
